Description: Responsible for crisis counseling and medical/legal advocacy elements of the Sexual Violence and Domestic Violence Program, including crisis counseling and advocacy, institutional advocacy and professional training. Responsible for individual and group counseling with child and adolescent survivors of sexual violence.

Rate of Pay: $21 per hour

Minimum Level of Education/Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work, women’s studies or psychology and one-year work experience in the social work profession or a combination of education/experience in a related field.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Provide direct client advocacy services to adult and child survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence.
Provide client accompaniment to police stations, medical facilities, states attorney offices and courtrooms as assigned and provide emotional support to survivors as they progress through the medical and legal systems. Act as a liaison for the client within these systems at the client’s request.
Complete required 60 hours of child sexual abuse and related issues training, 30 hours within 6 months, additional 30 hours within 1 year.
Complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education/year, 6 hours focusing on children to keep abreast of new information, skills, and best practices.
Act as a referral source for relevant services to assist the survivor and family.
Provide crisis counseling services to survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence.
Responsible for institutional advocacy and training activities pertaining to medical, legal, and law enforcement.
Responsible for all advocacy related record keeping, document preparation and provision of data for report entry.
Develop and implement a sexual violence training series for the law enforcement, legal, and medical professions in conjunction with Attorney General-Sexual Assault Response Team. 
Understand and maintain client confidentiality as required by law and funding sources.
Attend trainings to keep abreast of new information and skills.
Travel throughout the region is required in the performance of job duties in addition to trainings or other required activities.
Provide sexual violence and domestic violence crisis line and hotline duty and documentation when scheduled or needed.
Other duties as assigned.
